@titude Dance Leeds was founded in 2010, initially as a street dance club. There are currently over one hundred and sixty pupils from 2 to 20 years of age, who are offered classes in a wide range of dance styles.
Principal, Emma Date moved to Leeds after graduating with a BA(Hons) in Dance. She spent many years teaching dance for a number of organisations, including the University of Leeds, Stagecoach Theatre Arts, the Leeds Sports Development Unit, Yorkshire Dance and the councils of Leeds, Bradford and Kirklees. She also taught for fifteen years for the charity, Dance Action Zone Leeds and it was working within that community dance programme, which inspired Emma to open her own school. Some of those young people even traveled to continue working with her.
Students have performed at many of their local venues, including the home ground of the Leeds Rhinos rugby team, Headingley Carnegie Stadium. They have also appeared at the Manchester Velodrome and have hosted their annual show at the Northern Ballet Theatre in Leeds. In 2016 and 2017 they also performed at Her Majesty’s Theatre, London as a part of ‘The stars’ In Our Eyes hosted by Mardi Gras.
